Other Happenings

I have no picture to go with this story, but we have been obsessed with the Olympics at our house. They are on constantly and Connor's especially taken a liking to swimming and running mainly the latter. We taped the Men's 100 and 200 meter first and played them for Connor who has been running ever since. We have to say, "On your mark, get set, go!" as he sets himself up in front of the fireplace and then runs several laps around the house. For those of you who saw Usain Bolt win the 100 meter, he finds his mother in the crowd and then runs around with the Jamaican flag. Yes, Connor does the same, finds his mommy and runs around with his flag, aka. blankie blue. We've had to set a limit on how many times we'll replay the races because it gets old after 3 or 4 replays several times a day! Maybe he'll aspire to be an Olympic runner someday.
Just a cardboard box and a couple of friends.
I took dinner to our neighbors last night, the mom is a new member of the Mom's Club I'm in, and they gave us this baby doll for Connor. We'd been talking about how Connor says he has a baby named Keaton in his belly so I thought I might buy him a boy baby doll to have when Keaton actually arrives. They'd done the same thing but their little boy wasn't into the baby. Connor was so excited when I brought him home. We gave him a bottle and wrapped him up and he said the baby was crying so he'd better pat him on the back and sing Rock a Bye Baby. Later he told me Keaton wanted a brownie for snack and that he burped and something came out of his mouth also known as spit up. I guess that's from the books we've been reading about what babies do. Keaton slept with him last night too. We'll see how he is when the real version comes along.
Wearing his shirt from Australia that Lindsay and David sent him. He says it has the swimmer guy from Finding Nemo on it so he's happy about that.

The Eye!

Here are the actual pictures from his swollen eye last week. He's doing much better now as you can see from some pictures above. I told him he was a pirate and needed a kid sized patch. He didn't get the joke. If you're wondering what happened to said eye just read the previous post.

Our week

We've had an interesting week. On Monday night Connor got bitten by a mosquito on his right eyelid. Most would think, "Oh no biggie just a small bite." Not with this kid, he's so sensitive to them that the skin just swells up especially on his face. Last summer he got cellulitis from the bit behind his knee and needed antibiotics. By Tuesday morning his eye was red and completely swollen shut. He looked and felt awful so I called the doctor right away and she had him come in; poor guy got lots of sympathy from everyone in the office. She sent him home with an antibiotic, eyedrops, and an oral steroid, that is in addition to the antihistime I'd already given him. He stayed home Wednesday with Michael and they had a ball together. When I get the picture downloaded of his eye I'll post it but be warned it's scary!
Yesterday was his first trip to the dentist and I was a bit apprehensive, but he was so good. They had TVs over all the chairs so they turned on cartoons for him. He let them clean his teeth, squirt water in his mouth, use the little sucker to get the water out and even check all his teeth with the mirror and little sharp pick thing. All the while looking so stylish in the cool sunglasses they put on him because of the bright overhead light. He didn't even act like it bothered him a bit. The dentist and hygenist both commented that he was better than any kid they'd ever seen including 4 and 5 year olds. They sent him off with some toys, a new Pooh toothbrush, and some sugar free suckers. We'll be back in 6 months and I hope he's as good then!

The Little Baker

Connor enjoys baking anything sweet...... cake, cookies, brownies, cupcakes. We've made them all. The most fun part (or park as he says) is using the mixer. He did a very nice job making this pumpkin cake this week for our friends Dave and Kristen when they came over for dinner. I guess I've read the instructions off enough times that he now says, "And now we add the eggs, oil, water" or whatever ingredients we have out. So cute.

Enjoying the fruits of his labor.

Happy Birthday Michael!

As the cake says, Happy 34th Birthday Michael! He turned 34 on August 12th and we went to Murray to visit for the last time before Keaton comes. Michael lucked out with two cakes this year plus the delicious free birthday dessert he had when we went out to eat for his actual birthday in Louisville.

Michael, Connor, Gigi, and PaPaw.
Cake #2 at Mimi and Poppy's house.
No birthday is complete without the traditional birthday hat we purchased at Lynn's Paradise Cafe when we moved here.

We made daddy a special birthday card with sharks, fish, a whale, and a few other characters from Finding Nemo.
Sitting on empty present boxes is fun too.
We hope you had a good birthday daddy and we love you very much. Here's to many more!

Side note story: I just had to add that while we were in Murray Connor ran up to me, grabbed my legs, and said, "I love you." I was in total denial. This had never happened before, he only says it back to us when we tell him. I asked him again, "What did you say?" He said as clear as a bell, "I love you." I could have just cried right there.

It's Time for Golf!

We discovered in Florida that Connor loves miniature golf. We had to make a trip to Sullivan's while in Murray for a quick round. How old does my kid look here? Looks like he's really contemplating his next shot.
He's always perplexed at where the ball goes on the very last hole.
Just a couple of guys on the course.

Went to Lexington a few weekends ago to visit Thomas, Nancy and Evan. Had lunch at Joe Bologna's, one of our faves for pizza when we lived there. Evan and Connor have the same expression going on here.
Connor's taken a liking to his daddy's Sports Illustrated subscription (a subscription from his wife thank you very much). There's no doubt in my mind that Connor's going to love sports just as much as his daddy.
You have to have the double belly pregnant shot right?
This is me at 30 weeks. I went to the doctor and had an ultrasound just to see if things were okay and they said that my amniotic fluid was decreased so I needed to come back in a week and have another ultrasound. I had the same problem with Connor and I went into preterm labor at 28 weeks so I was hoping that history wouldn't repeat itself. I drank so much liquids this past week I thought I might just float away and the ultrasound was just fine, the specialist said that he thought I should come back in 2 weeks from now and just double check to make sure the fluid stays at the level it should be. As of the week before last the ultrasound showed Keaton is measuring 4 1/2 pounds and 32 weeks instead of the 30 weeks that I was at the time. Connor was bigger than expected at this time too. We'll keep you updated on our next ultrasound which should be at the end of the month.
My friend Kerrie and I had a lunch date with our boys while we were in Murray. They didn't pay much attention to each other, but they seem to be looking at something in this picture. Must be interesting.

Check out this little cutie in his underwear that he's been wearing officially for over a month (no, not this actual pair but underwear in general). After a week or two he got the hang of it and has stayed dry at school as well. Big feat for him since he's a bit shy and won't tell people (some of the teachers at school) that he needs to go. So proud of our big boy! Next on the agenda to big boyhood are a new room and bed. Hopefully to come in the next few weeks.
A few weekends ago my Aunt Sharon and cousins hosted a little family shower for all of us. It was so nice to get some new things for baby Keaton including some hand knitted pieces and various items with his name. Connor's starting to realize he's not going to be the center of attention for too much longer so he upped his game that day.
