Merry Christmas!!

We hope all of our family and friends have a wonderful Christmas.
"Hello, Santa? It's Connor Carr down in Crestwood, KY and I've just been checking out my presents under the tree. I'm a little worried that mommy and daddy didn't tell you what I wanted for Christmas.....let me tell you one more time just in case you forgot. I want a sucker, cars and a choo choo train."
"Yes I've been a very good boy this year."
"Okay, have a safe trip and Merry Christmas!"

New York City

I went to visit my friend Lindsay in New York City last week. She was in town from Sydney working on research for her PhD at the library. I was relieved to finally get there, my flight was canceled a mere 30 minutes from landing at LaGuardia and we had to turn the plane around and fly back to Louisville.
This is Washington Square--the squirrels there were enormous and very friendly which surprised me. I thought New Yorkers were supposed to be rude.

Stopped by NYU for a few souvenirs.

We found this really interesting shop called Evolution http://www.evolutionnyc.com/. This is the place to go if you need a fruit bat mounted in a nice frame, a skeleton or any portion of one, or maybe a scorpion paperweight.

Chelsea Market http://www.chelseamarket.com/ was close to Lindsay's apartment and it had some really nice shops and little restaurants. The Christmas decorations were nice too.

Here's the New York Public Library which was having some renovations done. Love the lions out front.

The library's Christmas tree was something else with it's hundreds of pine cones and little birds.
Beautiful painted ceilings were everywhere.

We went down 5th Avenue to see all of the famous department store windows. The one above is from Saks, I think. and the one below is Hendri Bendel. It's amazing the detail that goes into each one. Many had moving parts and even a mini roller coaster!

Rockefeller Center was really pretty as well. You couldn't pay me enough money to skate down there in front of all of those people.

St. Patrick's Cathedral was really beautiful too. It was nice to be in a cathedral like this one during the Christmas season.

On Sunday we went to see Wicked which was a fantastic show from beginning to end. Here's a little background on the story....."Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz. One, born with emerald green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked follows these two unlikely friends and college roomates grow into very different women: The Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch. Based on the Novel by Gregory Maguire."
We had dinner with my friend Bethany after the show at Pastis, a french bistro in the meatpacking district. By far my favorite meal there, although every place we went had great food.
We took a quick and very brisk walk through a portion of Central Park. It was freezing that day! When we started to feel the frostbite setting in we headed off to lunch.

Stopped by Radio City just to see the outside, again, it was freezing so we didn't linger there.

We headed to Macy's for some shopping, it has 8 floors and I actually got lost! You know it's big when they give you a map as you walk in the door. I didn't buy anything it was the same stuff we have here in Louisville.
Empire State Building
The Neue Gallery had a Klimt exhibit and I love him so that was another stop we made. We also went to the Guggenheim but I didn't take any pictures of the outside because of renovations.

I had the best time with Lindsay as my tour guide and it was nice to have some time to not be mommy for a few days. I did miss my boy while I was gone though. I'm not sure how much he liked his I love NY t-shirt, but the taxi cab was a hit. He was so excited that he slept with it that night. Does'nt take much to make a boy happy!

Christmas is Coming

I have a ton of pictures to post so here's a marathon post for you. Connor's sporting his red and green these days to get in the spirit. He's also helping mommy by constantly rearranging the ornaments on the tree.
Doing a little workout here to burn those extra calories from all of the cookies!
"Hmmmm.....this tree is something else."
Riley came over with her family on Sunday for dinner and they had, of course, cookies for dessert. They look so focused don't they?
Daddy's taught Connor the joys of licking whipped cream off the beaters.

Decorating Cooties

We did a babysitting swap with Kim and Stephen last weekend so Collier spent some time with us on Saturday night. I had a ton of cookies and icing from our office Christmas party so the boys went to town decorating some "cooties" as Connor calls them.
Nice mustache Collier! Now we know what you'll look like when you're 16 and sporting a nice 'stash.
They wanted Michael to have one too, I also gave him a goatee. (Forgive me I have no clue how you spell that).
Connor decided to skip the cookie and just main line the icing. Decorating cookies sure can wear a boy out.

Trimming the Tree

We got a new Christmas tree this year with lights already on it which is the best thing ever! Connor helped to hang a few ornaments on the bottom.
Jobu's already found her favorite spot.
The final product......
