Conversations With Connor

When you have a curious four year old under your roof you have lots of conversations throughout the day and some get pretty deep. Here are two recent ones I wanted to share (and remember).

RE: Loved ones passing away/Heaven, etc. brought up as we drove by the cemetery we pass every day.

Connor: "Mom, why are those flowers there?"

Mommy: "Because that's where people are buried when they pass away."

Connor: "If they are buried, how do they get to Heaven?"

Mommy: "Their souls go to Heaven, but their body stays buried."

Connor: "How does God come and get them then?"

Mommy: "Ummmmm." (Note to self: Buy a book on how to explain death to a 4 year old.)

Connor: "I bet that God has wings, and he flies down and takes them back to Heaven!"

Mommy: "I think you're right Connor."

Conversation #2 earlier this evening:

Connor: "If I get sick and go to Heaven can I come back later, like after the weekend?"

Mommy: "No, once you go to Heaven you stay there forever."

Connor: "You mean I can't come back down? I bet God would let me."

Mommy: "Oh really? You think God would let you leave Heaven to come see us?"

Connor: "Yeah, if I asked nicely."

Gotta love a boy with good manners!!

Pickin' a Pumpkin

We headed out to the local farmer's market to pick our pumpkins.

Our little sweet boy got diagnosed with H1N1 on Friday. We knew he had a cold and even his doctor thought he just had a virus, but she tested him just in case. He's been feverish and congested all weekend. We started Tamiflu on Friday and he's up to three breathing treatments a day. We are taking good care of him, and hope he recovers quickly!

Keaton got a little cute baby pumpkin.

Happenings

Tough day at the office Connor? He loves to say he's going to work and will bring out the ol' laptop in the kitchen. Keaton joined in too. I'm a little worried about child labor laws, but we won't tell anyone if you don't.
Mimi came to visit last week while daddy was in Nashville at the hospital with Mama D. Connor put the smackdown on her as you can see.

Keaton's 1st Birthday

Keaton's birthday celebration got a little rearranged since we were spending time at the hospital in Nashville on his big day. We had pizza and cupcakes down the street from Vandy and our birthday boy enjoyed his first cupcake (strawberry). We had so many cupcakes we shared them with some of the families we'd met through the trauma unit the week before.

My Aunt Alice made Keaton a birthday bag of course. If you can't read it, it says "Keaton Carr.....arriving at his birthday party in his birthday suit!"

It's as if he knows he turned one. He even showed the big 1 with his finger!

Enjoying his cupcake.
Connor's doing the same.
What a sweet boy, so excited.
A shout out to my mom and dad who lovingly baked and decorated this lovely hungry catepillar. Thanks Mimi and Poppy!!

After giving Keaton jello for the first time mommy thinks, "This was a bad idea.."

Happy Birthday Keaton!!

Happy 1st birthday to our sweet baby Keaton. Your family loves you very much! This year's celebration wasn't exactly what we had in mind with everything that's going on, but he did get to eat his strawberry cupcake and blow out a candle. Pictures of that to come.
Check out his little video montage here......

Donna Update

Donna's had three surgeries this week at Vandy. All have gone well and they've worked on her leg bones and arms/wrists. She's responding well and her vitals remain stable. Thanks everyone for your concern and prayers. She's got a very long road to recovery.
