Balloon Glow

This weekend was the Bluegrass Balloon Glow at Bowman Field. We headed out with the Nohs-Matt, Michele, and Gavin. I wasn't sure how Connor would take to the huge balloons, but he loved them! They had countdowns every few minutes and Connor would count along with them and scream at the end as they all lit up at once. We stayed for fireworks too. It wasn't Thunder, but was a nice intro to fireworks for the little guys.

Here's a little video of one of the many countdowns.

Look Ma I'm Flying!!

Michael showed Connor the joy of flying with a cape. Well, the cape was blankie blue as he calls it, but it works anyway. You can watch him in action here. At one point he told me, "Look Mommy I'm flying."

Bailey Heider

While we were in Murray last weekend, I stopped off in Paducah to visit with my friend Kerrie Heider and to meet her sweet little boy, Bailey. He was born August 23rd. So sweet.

O-R-E-O

Mimi and Poppy had oreo cookies at their house last weekend. Connor had to have one in each hand. They're so good!!

Old Fart

I turned 31 the day after Connor turned 2 which was September 19th. I share the day with some special people, my cousin Kerri, friends Tiffany and Lindsay.
We ate dinner with my mom, Connor's Mimi who stayed with us last week, at the North End Cafe. Connor was so good and enjoyed his spanish rice, although most of it ended up on the floor. That's why you leave a good tip right?
We had pie and ice cream at the Homemade Pie and Ice Cream Kitchen which is sooooo good. Connor ran through the sprinkers a few too many times and kept saying on the way home, "I so wet!!"
Michael and I took advantage of free babysitting and went to Jeff Ruby's http://www.jeffruby.com/index.php?affiliate_uid=louisville and Proof http://www.proofonmain.com/proof/default.aspx for drinks the next night. Proof is a very cool restaurant & bar connected to 21C a museum and hotel.

Another Birthday Post

Connor's birthday started off to a rocky start. The birthday boy was not feeling the birthday love his music class showed him by singing Happy Birthday.
We followed it up with a trip to the park.
Deflated balloons are such fun to run around the kitchen with!
Let's line up all the vehicles we have. Doesn't he look proud?
Then he serenaded us with a few show tunes.

We thought he might enjoy the Red Robin for dinner. The meal of choice? "Pitta" or pizza and fries.

They sang to him and he was quite scared. Well, they call it singing, but it was more like yelling.
Cake and ice cream. Connor's fave is strawberry ice cream from Graeter's.
A cool new racetrack just for toddlers.

It's Party Time

Connor's 2nd birthday party was Saturday (his actual birthday will be Tuesday the 18th) at a place called My Gym where we go once a week for gym class. Connor and his friends had a ball jumping in balls, bouncing on the trampoline and sliding down slides.
They even had a few organized games for the kids which they all loved.
I think he finally realized that he was the V.I.P of the day when he got to ride in the car and everyone clapped and sang "Happy Birthday" to him.
Try to get 7 kids together for a group photo? So not happening.
The theme this year was cars, as in the movie "Cars" that Connor watches daily (not the entire movie just about 20 minutes). We even had Mack and Lightening McQueen cookies courtesy of Mimi.

Trying to get the birthday boy to wear the traditional birthday hat proved to be near impossible.
My nephew Walker, and Connor's favorite cousin.
Taking a break from golfing on his presents.

Now we can measure how tall he is thanks to Mama D and PaPaw.

Yummmmmm

We had lunch at Lynn's Paradise Cafe today before everyone left town. We love it and it's been on the Food Network several times. I had one of the breakfast specials today as seen on Bobby Flay, delicious!!

Balloons Are So Much Fun!!

Connor's friend Gavin turned two on September 6th and his party was a ball for all the kids. Want to know how to entertain a bunch of kids for a while? Blow up 150 balloons in your dining room and let the kids run around like animals. By the end Connor was drenched in sweat and had eaten two pieces of cake!!

Happy Birthday "Gabin" as Connor would say.

Zoo

Connor and his friend, Gavin, check out a very large gorilla (with a large behind to match).
Looks like the gorilla was just as interested in Connor.
Checking out the baby pygmy Hippo.

Labor Day

We went to Nashville for Labor Day weekend to visit with family.
Connor played "Happy Birthday" for his great-grandpa who turned 86.
My aunt and uncle, Alice and Jimmy, had some kitties that were interested in Connor, and he was quite interested in them too!
